Saturday at Salamanca

A weekend in sunny Hobart ferrying up the Derwent river to visit the amazing MONA which is, without doubt one of the best Galleries/Museums in any hemisphere. Confrontational + sensational and reminds you that art is anything but wallpaper.....however back to Salamanca and the lovely Ruby Victoria. I spied this stall on Saturday morning and couldn't drag myself away. Ruby Victoria letterpress & printmaking is a home based printing studio run by Narelle Badalassi specialising in linocut and letterpress printing. Gorgeous bunting for festive occassions or just because...cards, handmade brooches, bookmarks and botanical style bird illustrations. Find her at rubyvictoria.tumblr.com or at the Salamanca Markets on a Saturday, go early(8.30-9am) to beat the crowds and then hot foot it to the ferry for a visit to MONA. Best to book the ferry in advance as its popular and you will need about 3 hours at the gallery..lunch is an important part of the experience! Very laid back, as they have big comfy cushions for reclining on the grassy slopes beside the Derwent.
